General Superintendent's Message

As I ponder the condition of the church world today, my mind seems to always come back to this. A vast majority of the people just do not believe the Bible. Jesus said in St. John Chapter 5 verse 39, Search the scriptures: for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. There are three things I would like to discuss, HEAR what the bible says, BELIEVE what the bible says and DO what the bible says.

First – HEAR what the bible says. The bible says in Deuteronomy chapter 6 verse 4 and 5, Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Someone might say that was the old testament. Well, let’s look at the new testament. St. Mark chapter 12 verse 29 and 30, And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, HEAR, O ISRAEL; THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD: AND THOU SHALT LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL THY HEART, AND WITH ALL THY SOUL, AND WITH ALL THY MIND, AND WITH ALL THY STRENTH: this is the first commandment.

Second – BELIEVE what the bible says. Now lets go to St. John Chapter 7 verse 38, He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. St. Mark Chapter 16 verse 15 and 16, And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. St. John Chapter 17 verse 20, (Here Jesus is praying a prayer.) Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word. Let’s take a look at the Apostles. Hebrews Chapter 11 verse 6, But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Third – DO what the bible says. Revelation Chapter 22 verse 14 reads, Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Finally, James Chapter 1 verse 22, But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

May the Lord bless you and keep you is my prayer.
