Shaw Temple True Church History

In the summer of 1967, Elder C. B. Shaw ventured south to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The city of Barnesville Georgia is where the Lord settled him to minister the word of God. Elder Shaw, Mother O. M. Shaw, his wife, and several of their children began traveling back and forth to this small town several times a week. Elder Shaw began teaching the bible in various homes of the citizens there and was inspired to expand the Gospel throughout the town. He did a little research and located the local radio station (WBAF). Elder Shaw began preaching and teaching the Apostle’s Doctrine on this radio station and did so for over three decades.

The Lord touched many hearts and souls through the Gospel. The people began to come. Later, Elder Shaw began looking for a place to hold church services. There was a small empty building located on Mill Street that looked to be just the right place for the church. The Lord blessed him to obtain possession for the building. This was the beginning of Shaw Temple True Church of God in Christ, Inc.. The Lord continued to bring souls to the church this lead Elder Shaw to expand the place of worship. A piece of property was purchased and building began on a larger edifice. Elder Shaw needed to be closer to the church to work with the saints; therefore, he
began building a home for his family located next to the church.

In 1980, Elder Shaw and his family moved to Barnesville, Georgia. He continued preaching, teaching, and worshiping the Lord in the church along with his family and congregation for many years.

By the will of the Lord, the church building located at 260 Mill Street is still standing strong and the saints of God continue to attend. Several pastors have come and gone including Elder Shaw and Elder Castlin and Elder Harrell P. Taylor. Currently Elder Clayton Andrews is the pastor of Shaw Temple. Bishop Jeffries and Elder Andrews, along with other Elders and Ministers continue to spread the word of God throughout Georgia and other states.
