Philippines True Church History

Elder Edgardo Buico was an elder in an organization that limited him in preaching the gospel of Christ. The organization would not allow him to preach against women in the ministry, the covering of the head during prayer or worship services, and the baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He met with the board of elders in that organization and showed them bible, scripture, chapter and verse. They told him that they will not allow that kind of teachings in their movement, so he began to search the internet to see if anyone was teaching the bible the way he understood it. He found one group, but that group troubled his spirit. He kept searching. In January of 2006 he came up on the True Church of God in Christ Inc. under the leadership of Bishop B. J. Lawson. He read all on the internet concerning this movement. After one month he contacted Bishop Lawson.

After Bishop Lawson met with Elders Jeffries, Battle and Adams, it was agreed that Elder Adams would establish contact with Elder Buico. Elder Adams communicated with Elder Buico via email and phone. Bishop Lawson allowed Elder Adams and his son to visit the Philippines. Elder Buico accepted Bishop Lawson as his leader and received the baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, by Elder Gregory Adams. In the first visit, 115 souls accepted God’s word and were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. After being told to preach the word, Elder Buico knew that God had ordained this union. With that confidence he have been working faithfully bringing souls to the Lord, along with Elder Adams.

In December of 2006 Bishop B .J. Lawson passed. Even though Elder Buico is distraught of the death, he knows that God makes no mistakes. He regrets that he never got the opportunity to meet face to face with Bishop Lawson, but is more determined to continue in the work that he have been assigned and is looking forward to continue working with The True Church Of God In Christ,Inc. under the new leadership of Bishop Oprie Jeffries, and General Superintendent Elder Marvin Jones Sr. We now have 12 churches in the Philippines, and have baptized 336 souls.

Elder Buico has said, he was looking for the truth, and found it within the True Church Organization, and his quote is “I never leave the True Church because they have the light on”.
