Princess Retreat 2009

The First True Princess Retreat was held Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Holiday Inn Suites in Fairburn, GA. The theme was discovering your inner princess.  The ages of our princesses were from 0 to 11 years old. Each mother and daughter took a snapshot together upon arrival to be used later in a project. We talked about what makes us special. Each “princess” stood and introduced themselves and told everyone what is unique and special about them. Some of the responses were:

  • Beauty
  • Family
  • Love of God
  • Intelligence
  • Kindness

The Princesses and Queens put together a scrapbook that included a picture of them together, the girls’ self esteem bubbles, and community flowers that explained what made their community/family special. It was exciting to see how the girls expressed themselves creatively. The results were absolutely beautiful. After some recreation time everyone changed for dinner. Dinner was catered by MIGI, operated by two of our very own, Sister Tina Walker and Sister Laverne Hollman. They transformed the room into a princess wonderment! After being served a delicious dinner we were treated with an original poem written by Sister Walker, titled Princess. Her poem summed up the day, “True Beauty Comes from Within”.
